Studied law and journalism at the Universities of Hamburg and Potsdam. Doctorate in intellectual property law in Hamburg in 2004. Admitted to the bar in January 2005. Until 2008, worked as a lawyer specializing in intellectual property law at a supra-regional commercial law firm.
Dr. Schaefer is certified as a company data protection officer (GDDcert. EU). He has published various specialist publications on media and data protection law. Dr. Schaefer lectures on the Master’s program in Media Law and Media Management at the Technology Arts Sciences TH Cologne and before lectured on the Master’s program in Digital Media Law and Management LL.M. | MBA at the Erich Pommer Institute in Potsdam. He is a member of the German Association for Industrial Property and Copyright Law (GRUR e.V.), the European Lawyers Association (National Representative), and the Alumni Association of the German National Academic Foundation.
